A case like this could easily cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Reboot normally and see if you can connect, and if so, poke around in Device Manager to see if any conflicts developed or devices are disabled.
Long story short, it turned out to be a BIOS setting, but until I could see what the problem was, I had no way to debug/fix it. If it is a driver, that might restore the backup copy of the Registry.
